This will be the section devoted entirely to the practice of software leadership.

We believe software leadership is far more important than “management”, and we will make our case for that here.

In a nutshell, Management of software development implies control. Software development is characterized by chaos, uncertainty, changing business requirements, changing toolsets, etc etc etc. In effect, it is like a battlefield. You don’t “manage” a battlefield, any more than you can manage a football game.
You LEAD (or coach) into a battlefield or sports game. A battlefield is not a place you can exercise precise control. So we say that LEADERSHIP is the right thing, and we will go further as time goes on.
